What I love about this area is the historic feeling.
All of the historic buildings along Main Street, all have a story to tell.
The natural beauty is probably what first attracts people and the fact that we have a community unlike most areas, particularly on Long Island.
The proximity to the city is a great asset to this area because you can work in the city, but you can live in the suburbs.
It’s a great combination of rural life and boating life, as well as, great restaurants and culture.
Pretty much any sort of food that you’re interested in you can obtain in either Cold Spring Harbor or in Huntington. Some of the best Italian restaurants we’ve been to are in the area. There are Afghan restaurants, Pakistani restaurants, Indian restaurants, Chinese, and Japanese.
Johnathon’s would be one of our top favorites that we go to all the time. Southdown pizza forever; my kids were raised on that.
There is every conceivable option you can imagine.
The schools are the main reason people come here and they are everything that everybody talks about. They’re top rated schools.
Cold Spring Harbor school district is always ranked very high, the students get to know their teachers, the teachers know them by name, it’s just more hands on and I think just a sense of community between the students and the educators.
I’m fortunate enough to be a graduate of Cold Spring Harbor Schools systems, as is my wife. We both went to school here so we really have a firsthand experience and from what I can see, and I see a lot of the other areas, this is one of the best schools systems on Long Island.
So in the summer, it seems everyone is on the water, sailing, boating, jet skiing, or just being at the beach.
The parks system in Cold Spring Harbor, Huntington, and Lloyd Neck harbor is second to none.
We have Caumsett state park which was the Marshall Fields estate which is absolutely beautiful. Where people can go to events or just to go for a walk or run on the beach.
It was a good choice to move here and it’s just a really nice community.
It is a very special spot, it has offered so much for my children and now my grandchildren.
It’s as country as you can get without being in the city and that’s where I want my children to grow up.
I think we are very lucky.
